Nexan is currently involved in s Nexan is currently involved in several clinical studies investigating sleep disordered breathing. The largest of these studies - Sleep Events Arrhythmias and Respiratory Analysis in Congestive Heart Failure (SEARCH) is an international multi-center trial which includes:

University of Kentucky, ma-Birmingham,
Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard),
University of Cincinnati The Papworth Hospital (Cambridge, UK)

Data from this study have been presented at the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA), showing a 100% sensitivity at 5 respiratory events per hour, and a 95% specificity at 15 events per hour.
Current estimates have the number of heart failure patients in the US at 5 million and increasing. Recent data from several international studies have shown that approximately 50% of these patients also suffer from sleep disordered breathing. Many experts believe that heart failure patients with disordered breathing do worse than those without and that treating sleep disordered breathing can improve patient outcomes.
